TJR says

The 13th Floor Elevators were very much on the slide when this one arrived in March, 1969. Lead singer and songwriter Roky Erickson had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and was incarcerated at Rusk Mental Hospital, whilst the group's founding elder statesman, Tommy Hall, had left, taking his electric jug, and thereby group's trademark sound, with him. Highlights under the directorship of guitarist Stacy Sutherland are few, “Dear Dr. Doom” being the only real keeper for me.
