“Back Home” by Chuck Berry - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1970 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |
After several years with Mercury Records, Chuck Berry returned “Back Home” to Chess Records in November 1969, re-united here with his old pal Lafayette Leake on piano and played for the first time with Bob Baldori on harmonica and Phil Upchurch on bass. These first fruits were bluesy with funky flirtations, consistently decent throughout, but offered not a single outstanding track.
