“Hotter Than July” by Stevie Wonder - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1980 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1980s |
The critically well received 20th new music album from the 30-year-old was released in September, 1980, reaching #3 in the US and #2 in the UK. It's not great, but I rate it as his best since “Innervisions” (1973) largely due to a couple of strong singles. Five in total were released from the album; “Master Blaster (Jammin’)” (#5 US, #2 UK), “I Ain't Gonna Stand For It” (#11 US, #10 UK) “Lately” (#64 US, #3 UK) “Happy Birthday” (#2 UK) and “Did I Hear You Say You Love Me” (didn't chart).
