“A Hard Day’s Night” by The Beatles - album review
features in: (B-list) Album Chart of 1964 ● (B-list) Album Chart of the 1960s ● 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die |
The UK edition of the album was released 2 weeks after the US version, and dropped the soundtrack instrumentals. Side one contained songs from the movie soundtrack and side two featured songs which were written for, but not included in, the film. At this time, their great trick is to keep it all sounding simple and easy to listen to, whilst introducing little quirks; a mis-strum here, an off-beat there. Full of good stuff - “Should Have Known Better” and “I’ll Be Back” being the 2 main highlights for me.
